Challenger League Buddy Day! VOLUNTEER!!

June 10 is the last day of the Challenger League season - and that's traditionally Rotary "Buddy" Volunteer Day.
Buddies should arrive at 9:45 am.
The event concludes approximately 1 pm.
Mark your calendars now and plan to participate in a
fun-filled and very fulfilling day of service in our community.

Over the years, 32 Vineland Rotarians have been designated as "Rotary Lifesavers". President Harry Maloney presented the award to our Community Awareness Director, Linda Rumick on May 16th in recognition
of her work redesigning the Vineland Rotary Website.
The award was last presented in October of 2021 to our Community Service Director, David Scales.

Meet our Distinguished Service Citation Awardees
from Interact and Rotaract!
Interact Distinguished Service Awardee, Emily Walters is a senior at CCTEC majoring in Information T
echology. Her Interact Advisors, Mr. Campbell and Mrs. Smisk were unable to attend, but they sent the following comments, noting that they wanted to recognize Emily for her outstanding performance throughout her years in the Interact Club. "She has attended most, if not ALL of the events wee have offered over the years She is always the first to sign up, attend every meeting and share service ideas whenever they come up Her dedication and service have been greatly appreciated and she will be missed after her graduation We are proud of her!" Emily hasn't decided on her final career path, but we're sure she will succeed in whatever path she follows! Rotaract Distinguished Service Awardee, Illeana Santos Fuentes is a bio medical major at Rowan College of South Jersey. She was introduced by Rotaract Advisor, Beatrice Hughes who explained that even though Illeana is a first year member of the club, she jumped in and was soon elected as the club's President. Illeana has participated in every activity the club has pursued this yea
r - from assisting with the RCSJ Blood Drive, the Festival of Lights, a campus-wide effort to provide holiday gifts, clothing and coats to school children throughout Cumberland County and the Easter card project for residents of Genesis Health Care. She was also a leading producer in the club's recent "Smencils" fundraising project. Illeana is also very involved in helping her family with her young siblings. Katie Marie Ivins, the Distinguished Service award recipient from Schalick High School, Sandy Hearing, Youth Services Director for Vineland Rotary, explained that Katie is one of the most involved students at Schalick. She is President of In
teract, Cross Aged Mentor, National Honor Society member, Student Council Class Representative, Girls Tennis Captain, Classroom Student Aide, Vacation Bible School volunteer and a member of even more clubs.

She is a high achieving student, distinguished mentor, supportive peer and a loyal friend. “Knowing this student is a privilege,” Sandy noted. “Her service to others is her life and she is infinitely deserving, including receiving this award.”

Kaelin Zheng, an outstanding student at Vineland High School, was selected as the VHS Interact Club’s Distinguished Service Citation award recipient. She was introduced by her advisor, Tracy Morgado. Tracy explained that Kaelin was
chosen by her fellow club members because of her strong participation in the club. “Kaelin has the willingness to do whatever needs to be done -- with a smile. She can figure out what needs to be done next before I can ask!”

Kaelin’s family owns a small business in downtown Vineland and she helps out there. “But she still finds the time to help out whenever needed, She is a powerful person who will go on to do great things!”

Each recipient receives a Distinguished Service Citation certificate, a Rotary 4-Way Test Coin and a $50 Barnes and Noble gift card. Gift cards are provided for all Distinguished Service recipients by Rotary members,
the law firm of Testa Heck Testa & White.

Because they are members of the Vineland Rotary Club!

2022 Charles A. Loyle Vocational Service Award

Presented to Richard G. Franchetta, EJD, RMC
Richard Franchetta is a lifelong resident of Vineland, NJ who has a strong commitment to the community, in leading through service as a student, performer educator and administrator. Currently, he has served as Director of the Vineland Fire Department for the past 6 years and as Vineland’s Deputy City Clerk for 4 years.
He has a very interesting life story – including becoming a volunteer firefighter in high school, a dealer of craps, blackjack and roulette, a musician and co-founder of the musical group “Eleven-Eleven”. He toured with the band in London, England and throughout the eastern half of the United States. The group released 7 albums. He obtained his NJ Real Estate license in 2000. He graduated from Cumberland County College, Rutgers University and obtained a Master’s Degree in Paralegal Studies from George Washington University. He then obtained an Executive Juris Doctorate from Concord Law School, Los Angeles, CA (now part of Purdue University). He rejoined the Vineland Fire Department in 2013 and was elected President of the Volunteer Fire Association of Vineland. In 2015, he was hired as a Fire Inspector within the Vineland Fire Department. He went on to obtain a NJ Fire Official licensure and was elected Deputy Chief of VFD Station #4. He received certification as a Level 2 Fire Instructor working part-time at the Cumberland County Fire Academy and is currently the coordinator for the Firefighter 1 program.
