She was part of the "first wave" which means going in right away and her goal was water. She was tasked with meeting with local officials to setup water treatment systems in hard hit communities. Caitlin mentioned amidst all of the devastations, it was uplifting to see how much everyone cares as she witnessed the truckloads of supplies coming in while she was there. Our guest speaker was Jason Parmer, Teaching Pastor at Faith Bible Church. Originally from Lancaster, PA, Jason moved to Vineland in 2004 and has been serving at Faith Bible Church, where he also lives on-site. Ten years ago, he joined the Chaplaincy Program with the Vineland Police Department, a team of six pastors who work closely with the community through ride-alongs and counseling sessions. Jason feels privileged to have this opportunity to connect with and support the local community.
In addition, Jason mentors juveniles ages 10 to 17. He offers counseling, meets with their families, and guides them through community service as part of an intervention program designed to prevent charges after they commit minor offenses. Many of these young people go on to get involved in youth groups and food pantries.
One of the most challenging aspects of Jason's work is meeting with families after traumatic events. Through what they call the "Power of Presence," he provides emotional support and prayer, ensuring these individuals don’t face such difficult times alone.
