President Andy Browne called the meeting to order. Gus Foster led us in the Pledge of Allegiance, Harry Maloney performed the 4 Way Test and Pastor Heather Sudgen gave the invocation. Linda Rumick was our notetaker.
Andy welcomed guest, Josie Neill, guest of Norm Neill. We all congratulated George Steinbronn on his impending retirement later this year after a 38 year career with YMCA, 26 of those years in Vineland as Executive Director. Congratulations George!
Andy also wished Frank Rumick a happy birthday in his absence and offered the club's condolences to Frank on the passing of his younger brother, David Rumick, last week.
Sherry Soutiere announced that collections continue for Blessing Bags which will be assembled again in late February,
Josie Spinelli reminded everyone that the Annual Spaghetti Dinner will be held Sunday, March 3 at the Marine Hall on Landis Avenue. Tickets will be at our next meeting, Please do your best to sell yours as this is one of our important fundraisers for the year! If you are volunteering that day, volunteers should report by 9 am. More details at tomorrow's meeting.
Our Guest Speaker
Our guest speaker, Pastor Alfred DeFeo (right) of Freedom Homes, was introduced by Rotarian Joe O’Rourke (left). Joe spoke very highly of the work that has been done by Pastor Alfred at Freedom Homes, a faith-based recovery program for men, women and women with children, The program is designed to help them learn to become spiritually sound, physically healthy and mentally stable. The program is supported financially through donations from individuals, churches, businesses in addition to fundraising efforts. Freedom Homes operates two businesses to help support its work: Freedom Market and Freedom Furniture and Mattress Outlet - both in Millville, NJ.

The award will be announced and presented by our District Governor at the upcoming annual District Conference on Saturday, May 4, 2024, to a Rotarian who through projects or actions in the past two Rotary years (2022-2024) has best exemplified the Rotary precepts of Vocational Service.
A worthy nominee could be someone who:
Mentors others, especially younger people or those in need
Helps train or teach skills that are useful to the individual, to the community, or to society generally.
Donates time and skills in his/her field to help serve those in need.
Designs, manages or is actively involved in service projects that further education or training or any project that in an innovative and sustainable way puts members’ vocational or professional skills to use in a way that shares and promotes them in others.
