Announcements

President Jay Einstein opened the meeting and welcomed Frank Rumick back. Frank has been recuperating following surgery. Frank thanked fellow Rotarians for the many calls, notes and texts he received during his recuperation and said they truly helped with the healing process. Jay also welcomed Ken Dondero, who spends most of his time in Colorado.

We were reminded by Jay to get nominations in soon for the Vocational Service Award.

Alicia Fichera said that donations for Pedals for Progress are getting more difficult to obtain. Make sure you keep your eyes open for bicycles that can be donated. Donations are being accepted at DNS Solutions. Jay mentioned that the Bridgeton Rotary may join us to assist with collecting donations.

Sherry Soutiere announced that the blue can donations that were collected last month for the South Jersey Regional Shelter reached $356! The collections for September will benefit Compass Academy. Funds will assist with the purchase of book bags, lunch bags, school supplies and snacks.

Happy Dollars! Frank Rumick and Sherry Soutiere worked the room collecting $$ Happy Dollars $$ from many happy Rotarians. The happiness totalled $152!!!

New Member Induction - Preston Foster III

Dave Schad formally inducted Preston Foster III as the newest member of Vineland Rotary. Preston was proposed for membership by Jay Einstein. Welcome aboard, Preston!

Our Program

Our guest speaker was Emma Lopez, Assistant Health Officer for the Vineland Department of Health. Emma provided an in depth review of the Department’s responsibilities. Following her presentation, she answered a number of questions from the group. Everyone thanked Emma for a very interesting and helpful presentation. In summation, Emma said “Public Health is important as it improves our quality of life. Every day public health is working - often behind the scenes to prevent hazards and keep people healthy. The strength of our system rests on our capacity to effectively deliver the 10 essential public health services which together all of our divisions do.”
