Our Program
Don Daigle, one of ouir newest Rotary members, did his classification talk at our luncheon meeting. Don is a first generation American, whose parents hail from Canada. His family originally moved to the Levittown, PA area. They migrated to southern NJ when his father went to work for Atlantic City Electric. They moved to Millville and Don recalls his years as a "Bacon Bear", attending Bacon School. He graduated Millville High School and headed to Harvard where he played soccer. He started his work life in the Philadelphia area and started a family. When he divorced and had custody of his two children, he moved back to Millville to be close to family. His vocation has been as a financial advisor, and he started his own business in Millville "Holly City Financial Services" which he operated for many years. He was involved with Millville Soccer, a member of the Millville Chamber of Commerce and former president and a member of the Kiwanis Club. He has now been married for 17 years to his "best friend". They created a blended family with 5 children. Tragically, Don's son Don Jr. passed away 5 years ago from a drug overdose. "He was a good kid who could really make your laugh," Don remembered. He credits his wife with keeping him alive. When the opportunity arose for him to buy his Charles Schwab office he found it to be a new challenge which kept him going at a time when he needed it. There are only 70 Schwab franchises in the world. As he describes it, Schwab operates on "the anti-Wall Street model". His business has grown to 3,000 customers in the 3 years since he opened the business. His business covers Cumberland and Cape May Counties and parts of Atlantic and Salem Counties encompassing 50 zip codes.
Thank you, Don for giving us a great insight into a new Rotarian!
Blessing Bags
Following the classification, Rotarians formed an assembly line once again and packed Blessing Bags to be made available to those in need. Once again, Rotarians provided service for our community.
