Meeting highlights from our April 18, 2023 Luncheon Meeting
The meeting was called to order by President, Harry Maloney. Dennis Palmer led us in the Pledge of Allegiance, Dave Hanrahan conducted the 4-Way Test and Pastor Heatherled us in prayer. Gus Foster was Sargeant at Arms. Notetaker was Linda Rumick. No upcoming birthday Rotarians were present (check below for all birthdays and anniversaries for the month).
Ed Morvay presented Josie Spinelliwith her 5 year pin - congratulations Josie on 5 very active years Ed also announced that Josie will receive the Cumberland County Bar Association's Liberty Award on May 1 for her continued contributions to the community. Josie is determined to make a difference -- and it shows!
Ed also noted that Rotarian couple, Gus and Linda Foster had achieved a combined membership of 65 years! Both have gone through the chairs, served as president and continue now to serve. Gus is Sergeant at Arms; Linda was club secretary for many years. Congratulations to the Fosters and thank you for your service! He also congratulated Jay Einstein whose family has marked 100 years of service in the community.
Guests include potential members: Nancy Spinelli and Joe Botero, and Captain Izzy Gonzalez of the Vineland Salvation Army.
Frank Rumick and Sherry Soutiere collected Happy Dollars ... 16 members contributed happy stories and a total of $139 for the treasury!

Congratulations to our newest Rotarian of the Week, Community Service Director David Scales! David is known to volunteer his services whenever help is needed. Sometimes we don't know how David does all that he does to serve those in need in our community. He is a true Rotarian whose heart is as big as his radiant smile!

Our guest speaker, Frank Piccioni III spoke about Rowan College of South Jersey’s Dual Enrollment programs, with a focus on the High School Option Program (HSOP).The HSOP provides high school students the opportunity to take RCSJ courses at a discounted tuition rate. Completed coursework can be applied to an RCSJ associate degree or be easily transferred to other institutions of higher education. In addition, RCSJ credits may satisfy high school graduation requirements through the N.J. Department of Education's Option Two.

Bay Atlantic Symphony is performing Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 on Saturday, May 6 at 3 pm at Rowan College of South Jersey. The performance features the 100 member Greater South Jersey Chorus with an amazing quartet of singers: Lori Hultgren, soprano; Barbara Dever, messo-soprano; Min Jin, tenor; and, Joseph Parrish, bass baritone. This is the season finale - a performance of this most powerful, mind-smashing work.
Rotarians can purchase discounted tickets online using the code: NINTH. Our own Josie Spinelli is a board member of Bay Atlantic Symphony and we are looking to follow the performance with a fellowship. Let Josie know if you are planning to go!

A proposed member’s name and occupation must be published for two weeks for the current membership to consider and file objections, if any. After two weeks the proposed members application is then brought before the board of directors for final approval.
