Don't miss our next meeting!
Tuesday, August 8th
 11:45 am @ Larry's II
Our speaker will be Bill McKenna
of the Inspira LIFE Program
The Inspira LIFE Program enables seniors to live independently safely in the comfort of their homes while being closely monitored by a team of healthcare professionals.
Inspira LIFE is an innovative and comprehensive program now
available to older adults and their families in our community.
LIFE stands for (Living Independently For Elders) and currently serves all of
Cumberland, Gloucester, and Salem counties.
Highlights from our Tuesday, August 1st Meeting
President Andy Browne opened the meeting. Carol Musso led us in the
Pledge of Allegiance, Alan Dickinson performed the Four Way Test and
Jay Einstein gave the invocation. Linda Rumick was our notetaker. Andy thanked Karen Bauman, Harry Maloney (and himself) for setting up the room prior to the meeting. We welcomed guest, Josie Neill, wife of member Norm Neill and acknowledged attendance by two of our newest members, Kasie Harris and Jose Martinez. We sang a rousing rendition of Happy Birthday to Justin White, led at an up tempo beat by Andy.
Ed Morvay noted that August is Rotary Membership Month. He presented George Steinbronn with his 25-Year pin. Congratulations, George!
Karen Bauman reminded members that we are in need of a Sergeant of Arms. If we don't get a volunteer for the position, we can use teams of members to fulfill the duties at the weekly meetings who would rotate periodically. If you can help out, please let Karen know at our next meeting!
Sandy Hearing has $5 tickets for the Boscov's Friends Helping Friends event. She will be selling tickets at each meeting until October 18th or you can contact her at  Buy several and give (or sell) them to friends and family!
Please support this fundraiser - remember the cost of  every ticket purchased STAYS with our club!
Sherry Soutiere and Frank Rumick collected HAPPY DOLLARS from 11 members who shared their stories of happiness. Of note, Norm Neill contributed $34 for 34 years of marriage to Josie and George Steinbronn contributed $25 to celebrate his 25th anniversary with Rotary.
Lots of great conversations happen at our weekly meetings - just look at these engaged members at our recent meeting!

Our Program
David Scales, Jr., (left) owner of the Scales State Farm Agency and a member of Vineland Rotary, was our speaker discussing Property and Casualty insurance in New Jersey.
As we all are noticing, rates are up in New Jersey. David noted that causes include inflation and "300 other variables!" Claims are up and costs are skyrocketing. Since the pandemic ended, travel is up and people are using their vehicles more than they were using them pre-Covid. Many accidents are attributed to distracted driving which is up 27% over the past two years.
Labor shortages are impacting auto repairs, with local agencies experiencing long waits, some reporting a month or longer before they can even look at your vehicle.
Homeowners rates are also increasing. David spoke about a variety of reasons why this is happening. However, if history repeats itself, he believes rates should show improvement in 2-3 years. Meanwhile, he advised that the best way to handle your insurance costs and concerns is to meet with your agent annually to review your policies to ensure your coverage is appropriate.
But beware of lowering your coverage just to save money because you may be increasing your personal risk. He noted that insurance is all very personal and there are many variables. Again, his advice is to make an appointment with your agent to review your coverage -- it may lead to savings, but it may also lead to improved overall protection.
