Our Guest Speaker, Sandy Forosisky
Jay Einstein introduced our speaker for today, Sandy Forosisky, Rotarian and Vineland’s Economic Development Director.
Below are some updates Sandy gave on the latest in Vineland development:
Sandy started by informing us of the “Cold Storage boom”. She does not have enough land to cover
the need for cold storage facilities!
-- The old Vineland Development Center West Campus was donated to the city by the state. The city will do the demolishion. Thanks to a $3 million federal grant, a new industrial park will take its place.
-- A Micro Brewery will take over the old Daily Journal building on South Seventh Street.
-- Landis Market Place building will be converting into a state-of-the-art digital film studio.
-- Sacred Heart High School will be converted to a Community Center for Nonprofits.
-- Newcomb Hospital has been converted to Newcomb Senior Housing- focused on providing safe and affordable housing for seniors.
-- The UEZ has a 5 year strategic plan. If you are not in the UEZ and you want to be, please let Sandy know. They are currently identifying projects. If you have ideas for the UEZ, please reach out to Sandys office.
-- Trout National- The Reserve walls are going up. There will be an 18 hole private course and a 9 hole public golf course. The property will include a Private Club House (off Mays Landing Road), a public restaurant and a (higher end) Liquor Store (off Sherman & Lincoln). A practice range, lodging and a wedding chapel are also included in the plans of the property.
-- 2 Chipotle locations are in the works: One is the old Arby’s building and the other is the old Butch’s Gun World on Landis.
-- The old Appliance Plus will be 810 Billiards & Bowling! This will include a 16-lane bowling alley, Restaurant, Bar, Arcade, Axe Throwing and Golf Simulators.
-- A new Sports Complex will be going on Delsea Drive near Butler Avenue. This will include soccer fields, baseball fields and lacrosse. Hoping to bring out of town traveling teams in for tournaments.
Thank you Sandy for a very enlightening presentation!
